ABOUT

Hi, I’m Emily.

I started The Pencil Room because I have a passion for teaching art – I share what I know, about what I love, in a way that does not dictate but instead enables you to develop art skills and find your own style.

I teach painting and drawing classes for complete beginners and for those who have some existing skills but just need some motivation and direction to improve their practice.

I love the simplicity of drawing. When I teach drawing I am always working to bring about that moment of clarity and satisfaction a person has when it all clicks and they start to really see their subject.

As much as I teach traditional techniques I am always focused on helping people uncover their own style whether that be traditional or contemporary.

Making art can be fun, challenging and therapeutic and it can change the way you see the world. I hope to see you soon at The Pencil Room!
